Real Talk: Kakampink Fanatics Aren't Above Personality-Based Politics

Image
Asia Society I didn't want to write this post. However, I feel some urgency, especially with some people who have low reading comprehension, and made Ad Homimen attacks against Senator Robinhood Padilla . Should it be a surprise to a nation where reading comprehension is in danger? Now, I'd like to write another topic. It's crazy how some Kakampinks may think they're above personality-based politics. However, take a look at the picture above this paragraph. It's no different from the Marcos fanatics, Duterte fanatics, etc. That's why there's the term Noytard, Dutertard, Marcostard, etc. The -tard is from retard , which means someone who was an intellectual disability . However, I think -tard is too good since a retarded person may actually be behaving more decently than people with a graduate school or doctorate degree, from highly prestigious universities . It makes me think of Gerry Cacandindin's posts on Facebook. Thankfully, his Facebook profile is o...

Don't be Silent: Sophia Maria Coquilla's Death Should Call to Review (and Revise) R.A. 9344

Image
The Wellness Vault Facebook Page This should be another wake-up call. Many years ago, the Vizconde Massacre happened (and honestly, it's still an unsolved case ). The crime happened at night, and until now, the suspects haven't been identified. It may no longer be the case with the late Sophia Marie G. Coquilla in Tagum City of Davao Del Norte . The incident happened on July 9, 2025 .  On July 11, 2025, Mayor Rey Uy of Tagum City, Davao, expressed his condolences . This should be a wake-up call that R.A. 9344 may have one serious flaw . This was also expressed in Sun Star from the same link I shared some time ago: “Hi Sen. Kiko Pangilinan author of Juvenile Justice and Welfare Act 2006 . Ang suspek 14 ug 17-anyos, unya unsaon naman ni ron? What the f**k gyod kaayo ng balaod nimo (Hi Sen. Kiko Pangilinan, author of the Juvenile Justice and Welfare Act of 2006. The suspects are 14 and 17 years old — what now? Your law is so f***ed up),” said one Leizel in a Facebook post capt...

Don't Expect a Mahathir-Type Leader, Under the 1987 Constitution!

Image
ABS CBN News Happy 100th birthday, Mahathir Mohamad! It's something that not so many people live up to 100, or more. The late Fidel V. Ramos passed away on July 31, 2022, at the age of 94. Ramos's advanced age may be the reason why the Omicron variant (which isn't supposedly fatal) ended his life. I'm posting this image of Ramos and Mahathir for one reason--Ramos wanted charter change back in the 1990s. However, plenty of anti-charter change commercials came in, the late Raul Roco said we only need a change in people, and we have Hilario G. Davide Jr. (who's in his late 80s but still active), and the idea that having a president who will rule for more than six years, is supposedly scary. Please, have they even thought that the late Pol Pot ruled Cambodia for just four years, but carried millions of deaths , that would make the late Ferdinand E. Marcos Sr.'s 20-year reign  look tame (read here )? I've read posts on Facebook saying the Philippines just needs l...

Defending the 1987 Constitution Like a Broken Record

Image
I've observed several anti-constitutional reform pages on Facebook. Whether it'd be Change Scamming, Silent No More PH, Mahal Ko Ang Pilipinas, La Verite (and Pinocchio ironically represents this page), Rule of Law Sentinel, We Are Millenials, etc.--the argument tends to quote the framers (or the Catholic Bishops' Conference in the Philippines) more than anything. Most of them tend to echo the same idea, echo the same sources, etc. In fact, one foolish old man I met said he wouldn't believe anything about the constitution if it's not from Filipino constitutionalists.  In short, I'm dealing with a group of broken records. Why do I say that they're broken records? It's always repeating the same ideas over and over again. It may not be the same words over and over again. However, one can look at the idiomatic meaning of broken record, as a person  who keeps repeating the same ideas or statements, over and over again , without offering anything new. In fact,...

Dr. Phil "Brat Camp": When There's So Many One-Side Comments

Image
I may not be happy with how Dr. Phil handles men's right to self-defense. I also looked into this video of Brat Camp . I recall watching the full episode a decade ago, which may have been taken down. There were also some clips on Dr. Phil's website (which I believe were taken down) that also involve Wendy's need to let go of her daughter. One of the mothers mentioned Noah's possible fear that his mother may have wished he died instead of his sister (or I think, paternal half-sister ) died instead of him.  As I look at the video, it gets irritating on both sides. I refuse to side with the child and the mother. I couldn't be certain what really happened. I found Wendy's now outdated blog (wondering what she does now). How reliable is her story ? I read it and it doesn't seem to contain an exaggeration.  However, as I watched this video, there seemed to be a contradiction. Noah says that his father treats him with respect. However, Wendy mentions this, which ma...

Nirvana Fallacy and the Die-Hard Defenders of the 1987 Constitution of the Philippines

Image
IMGUR The philosopher Voltaire (real name  François-Marie Aroue ) was said to have said, "Perfect is the enemy of good." To define the Nirvana fallacy, we can look at Logically Fallacious to help us define it: Description: Comparing a realistic solution with an idealized one , and discounting or even dismissing the realistic solution as a result of comparing to a “perfect world” or impossible standard, ignoring the fact that improvements are often good enough reason . Logical Form: X is what we have. Y is the perfect situation. Therefore, X is not good enough. Example #1: What’s the point of making drinking illegal under the age of 21?  Kids still manage to get alcohol. Explanation: The goal in setting a minimum age for drinking is to deter underage drinking, not abolish it completely.  Suggesting the law is fruitless based on its failure to abolish underage drinking completely, is fallacious. Example #2: What’s the point of living?  We’re all going to die anyway. Ex...

So How's the Impeachment Going, Huh, Die-Hard Defender of the "Infallible" 1987 Constitution of the Philippines?

Image
Some people on Facebook are posting, "No to parliamentary system because we had it during Marcos' time." For the nth time, do I need to keep pointing out the facts that we never had a real parliamentary system? As for those anti-reform advocates who say, "The parliamentary system will worsen the Philippines", I would like to ask, "How is the Sara Duterte impeachment going?" The complaints were passed last December 2024 and again, I would like to ask in Tagalog, "How's the Sara Duterte impeachment going"?  If we look at the definition, the Encyclopedia Britannica gives this definition of impeachment: impeachment, in common law, a proceeding instituted by a legislative body to address serious misconduct by a public official . In Great Britain the House of Commons serves as prosecutor and the House of Lords as judge in an impeachment proceeding. In the federal government of the United States, the House of Representatives institutes impeachm...
